The relationship with Japan began at the tender age of 12. My secondary school, Katherine Lady Berkeley’s School became a designated language college and I took up Japanese
And then?
Two exchange programmes and a summer alone later, I was hooked. I continued to study Japanese with Business Studies at Cardiff University, Wales.

Then, I took an exchange year studying at Kobe University,
studying business and economics and further Japanese.

First foreigner in a Japanese newspaper 産經新聞
I took an internship at Sankei Shimbun, a national daily newspaper based in Osaka & Tokyo. I was the first foreign intern at a Japanese newspaper.
Back in London
After graduating, I worked for JETRO, the foreign trade arm of the Japanese Government as an interpreter and assistant to the trade director.
I then started an internship at Clinica Magazine,
part of the Informa Group. I now work freelance
for them as their specialist Japan reporter.
